Strike Gundam + IWSP 01
I’ve been busy for the past couple of days and finally managed to make significant progress in my painting. All of the parts are painted with base black. The white armor have been spray painted with white while leaving the edges slightly darker color to enhance the edge. The trick to do this kind of airbrush painting is to start spraying in a circular motion starting from the center and gradually moving out. Be careful not to over spray the edges. If for some reason you spray the edges the only thing you can do is to repeat the whole process i.e. respray it with the base color.

The base color may not necessarily be black. You can use a totally different color. In my case, the base color for the white armor is dark brown.. the reason I use the color is to give a dirt like outline of the edges.

Another thing I learn from doing this is that the parts looks so much better with this technique as oppose to without using the highlighting technique. Not to mention it is much more challenging and interesting. The hard work really pays off…

Hi, I like the white color with sorta dirt done. This is something cannot be done using normal spray can. I use spray can for coloring. Just wanna ask what type of gray spray will you recommend for the IWSP pack?

If you like a worn out metal look on your IWSP pack, I’d recommend you use Gun Metal. I’m not sure if Gun Metal is available in spray cans. Maybe you can look for Tamiya Spray can.

Gun metal is basically a mixture of black and silver, giving it a metallic look on metal and it’ll look great on guns and metal parts. I even use the gun metal on the inner frame of gundam.

Since I use an airbrush, I use multiple layers of colors to achieve the look. First a black undercoat. Second: I highlighted the middle portion of the parts with Gun Metal added with a bit of white. The final coat is drybrushing the edges with aluminium silver.

Since I’ve almost finish the whole gundam, I’ll post the picture when it’s all done.
